Overview A Vancouver Circus School (VCS) Instructor is an employee who exemplifies the true spirit of the Vancouver Circus School. Instructors are responsible for the students and the parents, and should make every effort to encourage and promote the company’s core values. Instructors are to teach within the Rainbow Learning System with the upmost of care. Instructors teaching in their respective discipline are required to discuss any technical issues with the training department and the disciplines department head. Any student related matters should be discussed with the Director of Recreational Education.
Instructors are to be proficient in the Rainbow Learning System certifications and National Coaching Certification Program (Foundations, Theory and Practical Level 1).
Duties and Responsibilities
Be responsible and amazing all the time
Make students feel extremely welcome at the Vancouver Circus School
Provide a safe, fun, challenging and positive learning experience for their students
Encourage students to become more involved in the community
Respect your students, parents, coworkers, employer and community in general
Have a variety of sensible instruction methods to arrive at the desired outcome
Maintain a professional relationship with your students, parents and supervisors
Show up at least ten minutes early and be prepared to coach
Participate in upgrading your skills and demonstrate a willingness to grow
Recognize potential instructors or performers and notify supervisor
Promote VCS community and events
Be available for formal review and evaluation
Promote VCS Culture and don’t engage in conflicts of interest
Seek clarification if needed
Sign in for hours worked daily
Report any medical or safety issues
Be available for meetings, courses and special events, mentorship and supervision duties
Possess aspirations to perform and engage in VCS Events Specific Duties
Take attendance daily
Follow RLS curriculum
Provide progress cards for your students at the end of the session
Be available for group visits and camps
Qualifications and Requirements
Criminal Record Check / First Aid
Be available for 1 camp per year
We are always looking for additions to our team and encourage all interested applicants to apply!
Hours will vary seasonally and are based on class registration and the schools coaching needs .
-Coaching shifts will vary but can be scheduled evenings on week days or day time on weekends.
-Camps are seasonal but are Mon-Fri with a half day (part time) or full day option (full time)
-Birthdays and private visit bookings are Saturday and Sundays with varied start and end times.
Instructor wages are based on experience, qualifications and technical aptitude.
