What is RLS?
Created by VCS pioneers Travis Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Meregon Kiddo, Nigel Wakita, Charlotte Romses, and Brandon Miyazaki, RLS provides a structured pathway for students to learn, grow, and master circus fundamentals. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced performer, our system ensures you have the skills needed to achieve your goals and thrive in the circus arts.

Designed to be inclusive, non-competitive, and progressive, RLS creates happy, healthy learners who develop skills while having fun. Our experienced instructors guide students through each level, ensuring they build strong technique, confidence, and creativity.
The Rainbow Learning System: Foundational Levels
CRLS uses a color-coded level system that progressively builds circus skills in a fun and engaging way:
Red
A fun introduction to circus arts, building confidence through movement, play, and exploration.
Orange
Develops coordination and body control across multiple circus disciplines while strengthening technique.
Yellow
Refines foundational skills, introduces transitions, and enhances strength and flow in movement.
Green
Challenges students with more complex skills, focusing on precision, flexibility, and performance readiness.
Blue
Advances technique with artistry, blending skill mastery with creative expression and performance elements.
Purple
The pinnacle of RLS, where students master elite skills, dynamic sequences, and prepare for professional-level performance.
For students who have mastered the foundational levels, the Rainbow Levels 1-6 provide an advanced training pathway, challenging them to refine techniques, develop artistry, and prepare for professional opportunities in the circus arts.
