Birthday Parties at the Vancouver Circus School

Experience something different for your birthday this year and run away with the circus for the day! This package includes structured activities for youth ages 6 – 14yrs. Whether it’s their first time or fiftieth time with us, this year will be one to remember! During the birthday, participants will have 75 minutes to play and experience the many wonders and excitement of aerial silks, tumbling, juggling scarves, tightwire, juggling balls, flower sticks, and more. Afterward, there will be 45 minutes of complimentary time for cake and presents as well!

Birthday parties are available on Saturdays at 2pm and 4pm and Sundays at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm.

At VCS, we follow an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:7. Groups of up to 21 participants will enjoy three (3) activity stations, and groups of up to 28 participants, will enjoy four (4).

Big Top Toddler Birthday Parties

Is your child turning 5 or younger? Then a Big Top Birthday is the way to go! Children at this age thrive in a free play environment and we set up the school full of toys, games, and all the classic circus props. This program is supervised by our trained staff who will encourage free play through demonstrations. Parent participation is encouraged but not required. Please note trampolines are off limit for this age group.

School Age Birthday Parties

Led by our experienced instructional staff, leave all the learning to us! Students will learn trampoline, aerial silk and props taught by our experienced staff. Starting off the birthday party strong with a group game, then off to the stations and back together for a closing activity. Our birthday parties book up fast so book your time now.

Have a mixed age party?

We understand that families will often have older or younger children who straddle our cut-off ages. Please read the following policy on mixed-age parties to learn how we can best accommodate you and your family!

Younger Kids attending (6 – 16) Youth Parties

If you’ve booked a Youth Party (ages 6+) and have younger kids (>5) who will be attending, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while on the floor. They are welcome to participate in the same activities as the older kids as long as a parent or guardian is around to supervise them. For very young children (>3), we can put out toys for them to play with. They must also be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Coaches will be focusing on the older group and will not be able to supervise younger children who are using the toys.

Older Kids attending (0 – 5) Toddler Parties

If you’ve got older participants who are attending your Toddler party (eg. siblings), they are welcome to participate in the activities. Our toddler parties are run as free play and we put out many toys for them to play with. Coaches play and interact with the younger kids but are also more than happy to show older participants props or skills on available equipment. We want to accommodate you as best as possible to bring you an amazing birthday party. However, our coaches’ main focus will always be on the age group of the birthday you have booked.

What to Bring

Feel free to bring as much food, drinks and decorations that you’d like. Please note that you will be able to enter 15 minutes prior to your party start time. We start the party right on time, so the children will be back at the party area 75 min after your start time. This gives you 1.5hr to get ready. 

*we do not have a refrigerator for cakes and alcohol is not permitted

What to Wear

Guests should wear comfortable clothes to the circus school. Please keep in mind that you are at the circus, so you will likely go upside down and run around at some point! Pants and shorts with a shirt that can be tucked in, is recommended.  Please ensure that your guests wear clean socks, as no shoes are allowed on our blue matts.  Finally, metal can hurt your child and the equipment, so please do not wear watches, necklaces, or any other metal on the floor (small earrings are acceptable).

Need to use the washrooms?  There are washroom on the 1st and 2nd floor. 2nd floor washrooms are located down the long hallway next to the escalator and 1st floor washrooms are down the escalator to the left.

Where to Unload and Load

You can leave your cart at home!  At the New West Quay, you are allowed to borrow our moving cart to transport your items from your vehicle to the circus school.  You are allowed up to 15 minutes at the Quay loading bay, which is located on Quayside Drive.

Please ensure that you use the freight elevator to the 2nd floor.  The circus school is located beside the escalator.

When you Arrive

The party seating area will be ready and available for the host, 15 minutes prior to your booked time slot.  Please be aware that there will most likely be another birthday finishing up during that time.

When your Party Ends

You are allocated 45 minutes after your circus activities in the party seating area for snacks and cake. Our staff will gladly take care of the clean up, however, please remove all your take home items at you end of booking. Remember, you will have access to our moving cart to help bring items down to the loading bay.  Hosts are encouraged to please end your party on time, as there likely will be another party setting up.   

Birthday Party Policies

• Bookings are non refundable
• Birthday Parties are able to enter the space 15min early
• Set up is to happen while the children are on the floor
• For birthdays 6+ children under the age of 5 are unable to participate in the structured program, however they are welcome to play in our complimentary toddler zone
• Table and chairs are set based on the amount of students participating in the party
• Parties must end by end of booking
• All participants must sign a waiver to participate
